The College of ANS is so diverse from nursing to forestry and we learn so hands-on. The very lab that I'm in right now, we have actual physical mannequins that we practice all of our skills on. And I really think that this college emphasizes that so much that it's not just about being in the classroom and hearing, but also doing.
Louisiana Tech offered the best program for what I want to do, which was prevet. One thing I love about the animal science major is the atmosphere here on South Campus, all the experiences and opportunities you have. We get to work with animals from horses to cats. We even have opportunities to work in the meats lab and see that side of the industry. And the cool part about it is that the professors are there with you every step of the way.
The thing that I love most about being a biology major is just how hands-on the faculty staff are. They really and truly care about us and they really and truly go out of their way to make sure that we are getting the proper and efficient learning experience. One of the things that we're able to do is provide interprofessional education experiences for our students. These are important skills that students need to have as they go out into the job market. These aren't just skills for college. These are lifelong learning skills. And something that our professors do so well is career planning with you. They really sit you down and ask like, "When are you going to take your bachelor's classes?" We offer a bachelor's BSN through Louisiana Tech; even though you're getting your associates first, you can take those classes online while you're still here. So, they're great about career planning. They provide opportunities for us to learn even more outside of the classroom, and they just care about you so much as a person.
