You should join the College of Engineering and Science because it gives you great opportunities. When you join here, you're getting one of the best degrees in Louisiana, period—engineering or otherwise. And the more time you spend here, the more connections you'll build. You'll be connected with different internship opportunities, different job opportunities, corporations, and all sorts of things. The College of Engineering and Science has 13 distinctly different unique disciplines that meet the need for all of our students who are interested in STEM disciplines. We have seven engineering programs, four sciences, and two technology programs.

What I like most about engineering here is that, just like every other freshman, I started off in the engineering 120 series where we got exposed to a variety of different engineering topics. We sure got a lot of hands-on exposure to different projects. I ended up choosing chemical engineering because I feel like in all of my classes, I learned something that I can take home and apply at home and even apply in my internships. My major is computer science and I chose it because—well, I'm a nerd—but also because I've always had a passion for computers since I was young. I like tinkering and whatnot, so it seemed like a great major for that.

The reason that I chose my major was for the hands-on learning in our surveying lab and our soils lab, and getting to work alongside my professors through different organizations I've been a part of. They've allowed me to communicate and connect with other students like myself who are going through the same curriculum, and even different curriculums, but somehow we still find a way to connect with each other and build relationships. There's a lot of opportunities to get involved and put into practice outside of the classroom the things that you're learning, including eco-car, steel bridge, and concrete canoe. Within the College of Engineering and Science, you will be challenged, but at the end, you will not only have earned a degree, but a career.
